dbPowerAmp Music Converter crashes (Apple Lossless -> FLAC)

    Good day.

    Like the title says.

I've converting lots of my music from Apple Lossless (ALAC) to FLAC. But the dbPowerAmp music converter (lauched by the FileSelector) keeps crashing ever 5 tracks or so (I have 1000s to go through). Only info I can get is very technical (register values, etc).

Anything I can do to fix this?

Try using this FLAC codec: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=9035
The one in Codec Central had a problem with writing tags to FLAC files in some cases.

Also, do all of your files play fine?

Seems to have done the trick.

Why isn't CodecCentral up-to-date in this respect? Would have saved me 2 days of ALAC->FLAC rendering.

This version is still beta. When it is deemed OK to be officially released, it will be migrated to Codec Central.

Indeed, sometimes new code (and there was 1 weeks worth of brand new untested code for that FLAC redesign) can cause more problems than the older problamatic version.

            Thanks to Spoon and team!

I've completed converting my 600GB+ ALAC collection to FLAC and all the tags moved over and nothing crashed. It took 7 days and 3 machines (1.8GHz Semprons) to get is done, but now I'm happy. Excellent work.

Now to go off an buy a power-pack license...
