Bad sound due to too many players installed?

    Hi all!

This problem is not necessary related to dbpoweramp but anyway..

I have a lot of different music players installed on my Win XP PC, including dbpoweramp that is really a great package.

After some moment I noticed that at least two programmes, iTunes and Winamp, started to sound bad, on files of all formats. In iTunes I hear only a whisper, the sound is strongly distorted. I heard a comparable sound from a CD that I've mistakenly burned from 48 KHz WAVs. Winamp sounds better, the basic sound is undistorted but there is some additional noises.

Reinstalling these both programmes does not help. Other players work well.

I am puzzled about it. Have you had this problem?

    Thank you,

    Dmitry

Multiple players shouldn't cause problems. I have Windows Media Player, Winamp, dAP, Media Player Classic all installed with no ill effects to any of them. The problem sounds like its elsewhere.

i agree, it should not make any difference.

you might consider trying to reinstall your sound drivers, perhaps that would help.

in winamp: open preferences (ctrl+P), output, select 'waveout' instead of directsound.. try that
