    Need Help With WMA/M4A/WAV

Ok, so i when i rip music to my computer is use Lossless WMA, then i bought and ipod and had to convert everything to Apple Lossless M4A, and i want to burn these with nero, however Nero won't burn the M4A's, and DB won't convert them, why is this ? is there some kind of copy protection issued with itunes ? Or Am i just a newbee idiot ? Here is an example of the error message DB gives me whenever i try to convert any M4A files to any format: [The file 'filename.M4A' could not be opened. HELP !

Did you install the decoding codec for m4a?

And these are m4a files which you encoded yourself from wma lossless?

Ar eyou sure you didn't copy protect them yourself somehow when you made those files?

you know i was thinking is it possible the copy protection from first encoding them to lossless wma then apple lossless is still there? i usually turn off copy protect files in wmp's preferences. and i imported all my lossless wma's into itunes and it asked if i wanted to convert them to apple lossless m4a's, and i said yes because the ipod nano doesn't support lossless wma's so i really didn't have a choice.

iTunes made those files? I'd bet iTunes encrypted them for your own good too then :D

If your original wma lossless files had been encrypted by WMP you'd not have been able to convert them to anything else.

So if you still have them, then work with them. dB can convert them to whatever you need generally.

Does the iPod only work with m4a files?

well you see that's the problem all my original wma's are m4a's now and DB won't do anything but give me that error message, however it works fine if i try to convert any other file type [wma/wav/mp3] any ideas ?
and No the ipod Nano support these files types: MP3 (8 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, AAC (8 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Music Store, M4A, M4B, M4P), Audible (formats 2, 3, and 4) and WAV

Your original wma's are all m4a's????? you mean you've converted your wma lossless format to m4a and deleted the wma lossless version after the conversion?

If they are protected m4a's there's nothing you can really do. Well, look at the DRM forum.

If the Apple Lossless files were created with iTunes 5, try the beta m4a codec here: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=8950
