dMC Audio CD Input "stops responding"

I have recently installed dbpowerAMP ver. 11.5 on my
    XP Pro computer.
Every time I start dMC Audio CD Input and it recognizes a CD, it starts "communicating with accuraterip" and the program "stops responding". I have disabled accuraterip in dbpowerAMP settings and in dMC Audio CD Input but the problem continues.
Can someone tell me why this is happening?

    TIA,
    Pete

You mean you did this? http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthre...ht=accuraterip

Is it happening for all cd's or just some?

Re: dMC Audio CD Input "stops responding"

This seems to be a new occurance with the release version of dMC 11.5. It seems to happen with each cd loaded. You will only get the message if you have no cd loaded in your target drive when you open Audio CD Input. Otherwise, the message appears whether AccurateRip is enabled or not.
If you open Audio CD input with no cd present in your drive, the message will still occur when you put a cd in the drive.

I am unsure why this revision was made. In my case, I've got AccurateRip enabled and configured. If I open Audio CD Input with a cd in my drive, then the little window appears that Pete describes and I have a slight delay in the Audio CD Input window appearing. But my system does not hang.

In Pete's case, I would advise trying to open Audio CD Input without a cd in the drive and then inserting the cd to see if that might prevent the system hang. Also, avoiding running other programs while opening a cd in Audio CD Input may prevent the hanging.
I wonder if this could be a bug.

      Best wishes,
      Bill

Re: dMC Audio CD Input "stops responding"

I never did get accuraterip enabled as it seems to be much too much trouble for me to find key cd's and follow through with the whole process. So in my case it still says "waiting for key cd" - and will say so until the cows come home :D

          Christina-
Are you using the 11.5 dMC release version?
Have you tried opening and loading a cd through Audio CD Input?
I ask only because it surprises me that you do not get the little window opening up that Pete describes. If your answers to both questions above is "Yes", then one might hazard a guess that AccurateRip has to be configured for Audio CD Input to act this way. But it would be nice to confirm this.

          Best wishes,
          Bill

You need an internet connection, or setup accuraterip to use the offline database (see the options on the accuraterip submit results page).

To switch off accuraterip, start cd input with no cd in the drive and click options, then uncheck AR Enabled.

              Christina,
              Yes, I mean this: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthr...ght=accuraterip

It happens on two of four CD's; whether or not I load the CD first.

My main question now is: Why can't I turn off accuraterip?

              Thanks,
              Pete

Re: dMC Audio CD Input "stops responding"

Having participated in the previous post (which I have since updated), I have confirmed that on my version of dMC 11.5 release version, with AccurateRip configured, this window (with the "Communicating with AccurateRip" message) occurs even after AccurateRip is unenabled (and even after restarting the system), whenever a cd is loaded through Audio CD Input.
It looks like a bug whereby a routine to communicate with AccurateRip (and maybe FreedB) is initiated even if you try to turn AccurateRip (and FreedB maybe as well) off.

Until the bug gets fixed, it should be an irritant for most users but not if they cause a freeze or hangup as Pete has described. There may be a safe way to remove AccurateRip with affecting dMC for users having freezes or system hangs or who don't want this feature, but I am not entirely sure what that uninstall procedure would be like.

                Best wishes,
                Bill

Yes, Bill, dMC 11.5 - but I never configured Accuraterip (lazy, uninterested, whatever). So I dont' have this problem as described.
