Re: chipmunk sound quality
You have to tell us the settings of your input wma file: bitrate, frequency, channels and also the settings you are using to convert to mp3.
What version of dMC do you have? OS?
What cd burning program did you use?
Does your mp3 file sound that way (too fast) when you play it on your pc from the hd, or from the cd playing in the pc's cd drive or only once it's playing in an external mp3 cd player?Last edited by ChristinaS; November 04, 2005, 06:31 PM.Christina

Re: chipmunk sound quality
It sounds like the frequency of your source file is probably not 44100Hz. When you play the file on your machine, does it sound fine?Lt. Data

Re: chipmunk sound quality
For me, yes.
And it doesn't matter what frequency my files are before converting to Very High MP3...No matter what, my Very High MP3's turn out to be chipmunk sound quality as well.bada boom chaka laka boom boom -- um... what should I put here?

Re: chipmunk sound quality
Don't see any reason why. The Very High preset is the same as no preset but using 320kbps as a bitrate, that's all.Christina

Re: chipmunk sound quality
Hmm, that is what it ends up being on my system, what I see in the pop-up info after I convert something to mp3 under that preset - and the resulting file size corroborates that.Originally posted by xoasAre you sure about this?
On my system the "Very High" preset is 160 kbs cbr.
Best wishes,
Bill
The intersting thing is that the frequency setting appears not to be built into the Very Hight preset, so I can select it separately.
---------- LATER ------------------
Wow, another discovery I made just now: even with the Very High preset, if I select Variable bit rate, and then on the previous panel I play with the bitrate cursors for minimum and maximum, I can get something entirely different. I just did that and obtained a VBR of 77kbps .....
Gee, that's why I can't be bothered with presets. I prefer to pick all my own parameters so I know what I'll get based on what I want.Last edited by ChristinaS; November 06, 2005, 06:02 PM.Christina
