DMC exits after about 10 seconds

While converting from MP3 to WMA DMC disappears (crashes i assume) without any messages after about 10 seconds. Tried to do the same on another computer and got the same results. On the other hand on my 3rd computer runs fine.
What gives?

All three systems are Windows XP SP2 with all current updates.

Do all the machines have the same version of WMP and Windows Media codecs installed?

Did you install the WMA System codecs also?
What is the settings on your original mp3 file (channels, bitrate) and the settings for your desired WMA file?
