Cannot record from Auxiliary Input

Greetings,

I have some flash files from which am trying to record the audio to mp3.
Using auxiliary input, I get the following message
" The CODEC required to decompress '\\Aux\Track01.aux' could not be opened. "

Have a registered version running on my laptop.

Did you try to use dMC Audio CD Input by chance instead of dMC Auxiliary Input?

If these are Macromedia Flash files, you need to open and play these with Windows Explorer. dAP cannot play these files, which is why you get the message.

Sure. I play the files separately.

But before that I was testing the sound output record with winamp playing mp3s . which had the same issue too.

May be I'm missing something . This is the first time I'm using dbpoweramp.

I recently was experimenting with using Auxilary Input to record a downloaded Macromedia Flash file. There are some other types of Flash files and so this may not apply to your situation.
Assuming you have successfully downloaded the file (as opposed to simply downloading a link to a file on the internet), I right-clicked on the file and chose the option "Open With", selected the Option to Browse to choose the program to Open the file and selected the recommended option (which I believe was Windows Explorer but right at this time it seems to be Internet Explorer. Then the file would play (which is what you are trying to accomplish). Once you can get the file to play, then you can follow the other steps to record the track through Auxilary Input as ChristinaS has desccribed in her FAQ on this issue here: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=7318

Hope this helps (and sorry if the Windows Explorer statement mislead you).

Thanks much !

I now skipped to get a running mp3 at the least and attempt to record it using Aux .

1. Started running mp3 in winamp
2. Opened Aux Input
3. Selected Options --> Input Source [ Select Wave Out Mix from the options ]
4. Click Record Button

I get the same message " The CODEC required to decompress '\\Aux\Track01.aux' could not be opened. " :(

If you click the "Test Recording Level" button, does the meter jump up and down, or does it not move?
Try double-checking your settings in the Windows volume control panel, as mentioned in ChristinaS's post xoas linked you too.

Thanks ! That could be it.
Nothing happens when I click the "Test Recording Level" button.

My Volume Control window has

Wave : Mute check box *not* selected
Volume Control : Mute All check box *not* selected

SW Synth , CD Player , Microphone , Line In: Mute check box selected

I'm sure what the stmt means in "Make sure Volume Controls indicate your input that is enabled is either Stereo Mix or WAV" means WAV is not muted . Am I looking at the right places for configuration ?

Recording Control Window has

Wave Out Mix : Selected for Recording.

Is this correct ?
What am I missing ?

Just realized I dont even see a popup window like this

*Nothing* happens. I just click and really nothing happens., not even the popup window like shown in the snapshot at that URL.

Try redownloading the install file, then reinstalling from that file. There's a chance your original install file was corrupt somehow.

Possibly there is an issue recording from your sound card, try recording using 'Sound Recorder' (it comes with Windows, I suspect it will not open either).

Just tried that .. The "Test" button fails to launch the popup window in the first place for me to test anything.
