    Problem with MP3 encoding

    Hello,

I've recently installed v11.5, but can't seem to change the MP3 encoding to anything other than the default CBR. In the advanced options pane, changing the "Preset" or "Encoding" options to anything other than "Constant" has no effect. I'm sure this used to work for me in an older version, so I'm not sure what's gone wrong. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Re: Problem with MP3 encoding

Could it be that you have your mp3 set to a preset that is itself CBR?
This would be one likely explanation.
    What presets have you tried?
The other possible scenario is where you try to set up a variable bitrate range but fail to set both the upper and lower sliders (there are to, one controlled by right click, one controlled by left click) but you may seem to see only one and set that not realizing you have set both the upper and lower range of the file to the same setting.

    Best wishes,
    Bill

Do note that setting a preset doesn't change the bitrate slider to reflect this. The dMC help file lists some LAME encoding presets and what they are.
