    Cant rip files? Help!

I bought a new CD..and cant seem to rip it with anything? The CD had sony software that ripped file as WMA but with licence, but only media player will play?? I tried to convert dMC but got this error:

["the file" is encrypted which dMC is not able to decode.] I added the wma codec. :vmad:

any suggestions would be aewsome! Is there anyway to rip the files without using aux input?

    thanx,

by the way...nothing else will play the CD either? Everything else has speed and skip issues when you try to trip or play the CD?

    thanx again

The album is Maroon 5 Live Friday the 13th Cd/DVD set. I have checked it...but i dont c anyway other then aux input record. Does this lose quality...also, the CD software only rips at 128kb so i guess there is no way to higher quality...is there?

Auxiliary Input doesn't degrade quality anymore than the original has, no.

And you tried toggling "Table of Contents Detection" and holding down shift when inserting the CD? What happens when you rip? Does it crash, or is the file full of pop and such?

              Re: Cant rip files? Help!

Why do you have to use the cd's ripping software?
You can't rip directly through the dMC Audio CD Input? (EDIT: Especially trying the advice from LtData's post preceding this one).
If that does not work (which it might not because of the additional content), you might see if you could pop the cd into your drive and access the tracks through the general dMC interface (rather than audio cd input), and rip your tracks that way (downside is that you won't get track information, but you can add this later).

Auxilary input's quality will depend upon the qualities of your soundcard and the format and settings you choose to record to. Technically, unless you convert to a lossless codec, you will lose some quality but this is not different than straight ripping would be. Best is to record to wave and then convert to the format and setting of your choosing.

              Best wishes,
              Bill

Your using WMP to rip? You aren't trying to use "dBPowerAMP Music Converter" to rip? That is where my "Table of Contents Detection" toggle came in.

If with the shift key start...dMC CD rips with skips.

I cant manually find the songs on the disc?? It just a bunch of folders, no music files i recognize.

With aux input...if the ripped files from the sony software are at 128kb...will a aux record of anythinbg higher then 128 be a waste? Basically...can you record higher then the playback file?

I have tried everything to rip...like six different programs...including dMC. I just tried WMP for the hell it last and it wont rip it either...the only thing that actually ripped the cd to my pc was the sony software that boots with the disc...but the wma's ripped are licenced. I know i can play these and use aux input to record...but its a pain!

How can you use Music converter to rip from disc...i cant fine musik on there. I have read the forum tips...but cant figure out where your getting the table of contents?

I found the table of contents option! Sorry bout the stupidity! I didnt realize it was on the side bar button.

when you check the table detection...the files goes away leaving only track 1...how do you get all the tracks?

I edited my post in the thread to clarify where the "TOC Detection" is located. Sorry for not having it there earlier. Also, this is in the dMC help files too.

can you link me to this file? Not sure which one it is...ive looked at so many no! When you check TOC Detection...the CD tracks go away...how do you get when doing this...or is there a help file for it?

One last question...i promise! Can i record at better quality if play straight from the CD rather then from the licenced 128kb wma's...i dont see the quality when the CD software plays??

                            thanks for the help

The help file for dMC Audio CD Input should be in C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpowerAMP\Help\dMC\CDhelp.htm (on your own pc of course).
