I clicked "Write ID tags" in Options, but no ID tags are written. File names are formatted exactly as I have selected, but nothing at all in terms of ID tags.

What format are you converting from and converting to? If you are converting from WAV files, your output files won't have any tags as WAV files don't have any tags for dMC to preserve. If you want to tag your files from the filename, download the "Tag from Filename" utility codec from Codec Central. Note that it requires the PowerPack.
