Re: how to convert real player files into winamp files

    winamp files
If you are asking how you can convert these Real Audio files to a format that can be played in WinAmp, then you will want to consider which formats you can play in WinAmp, most likely mp3 or m4a/mp4 (although there are many plug-ins for WinAmp that allow you to play other formats.
It is very possible that the Real Audio files you are downloading are copy protected. You cannot directly convert such a file within dMC (dBpowerAMP Music Converter). You can follow the procedure you are currently using (burn to cd and rip to some other format), or you can record the Real Audio files off of your soundcard as you play them using dMC Auxilary Input (for more on how to do this, see the FAQ here: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=7318 ).

If your Real Audio files are not copy protected, you can download and install the DirectShow Input Adapter codec from Codec Central (link at top of this page) or the older and slower Real Audio Codec. The DirectShow codec requires that you install Real Alteernative. There have been reports of incompatibility problems with having both Real Player and Real Alternative installed that seem to interfere with Real Player users being able to use Real Player in the manner to which they have been accustomed. The older codec converts only in real time and requies Real Player 8.

Then you can convert your Real Audio files to whatever formats you have configured dMC to use (if you are not already using dMC, please be aware that you need to register/purchase the Power Pack to be able to create mp3 files beyond a 30 day trial period).

    Best wishes,
    Bill

I'm not sure if you are aware but there are plugins available for Nero which expands the number of audio files it can handle. Try this link.

One of them is a RealAudio/RealMedia plugin which can be quite useful, details of which are here
