    m4a conversion problems

    Codec Error 'Input File: C:\~dmcin.wav
    Output File: C:\~dmcout.m4a
    Encoder: AAC Encoder
    Delete From iTunes: True
    Delay: 4000
    Error creating iTunes instance
    '

I get this error when trying mp4, quicktime, and iTunes.
Of course, you see my iTunes attempt above.

I do not have iTunes on board but why should this matter.

Re: Quicktime 7....It does not surprise me.

    Split from unrelated thread.
Now, are you saying you have QuickTime 7? Check the beta forum for an updated Quicktime m4a encoder for QT7: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthre...newpost&t=8811

If you are trying to encode to Apple Lossless (ALAC) using the m4a/mp4/Apple Lossless codec, you have to have iTunes installed. This would also be true of the iTunes encoder. I am not sure whether the QuickTime m4a codec supports Apple Lossless encoding. It does require, I believe QuickTime Pro (the registered version of QuickTime as opposed to the free version).

If you are simply trying to encode to m4a you should not need iTunes. What are the settings for the file you are trying to create?

As LtData suggests, you may want to try out the beta for the updated QuickTime m4a codec for QuickTime 7. Let us know how you make out.

      Best wishes,
      Bill
