    dmc with wine problems

I'm having problems running DMC with wine under Ubuntu Linux.
The software installs great and i get a desktop icon, however when i try to select mp3 files (for example to convert to ogg), they cant be selected.
If i try to bypass this by typing *.* in the file selector and then i select a file,
i get the message that *.mp3 codec is not installed and that i shold try to download it from the codec center. The problem is, the mp3 codec in embedded into DMC and can't be downloaded as a separate codec.

Anyone who is experiencing the same problem?

btw, i tried to download blade mp3 and mp3 pro, but it didn't work at all...

Open 'dMC Configuration' that lists what codecs are installed.

Now that begs the question, how do you launch dMC Configuration in WINE. Running "wine MusicConverter.exe <config>" doesn't work. Anybody have any ideas?

that's right. i can't get to the config.

but anyway, why wouldn't DMC be able to decode a simple mp3? i have tried with many different files, but i still get the same message, that the codec is not installed. this must be a wine issue, because it works fine under windows. strange error, though.

it doesn't seem to matter if i run completely under wine (setup+dmc) or if run from my "windows side" (through wine).

Might be path / folder related, running the config program will show what it can see.

Again Spoon, we can't figure out how to get to the config in Linux.

              ok.
i reinstalled and got to the config, and it looks like the lame codec is installed when it comes to writing, but not as input. strange. the only input codecs are wave, aux and cdda.

The installed mp3 decoder should be MAD or something, I believe.

Try the latest beta version (R11.5), R11 was using a dll that you might not have.
