Re: CRASH!!! Application error Memory refernece xxxx

Another user found (per Spoon's suggestion) that turning off the option to write tags allowed rips to Flac when they had similar symptoms. If this is the case, there may be some tag information that cannot be supported which may be at fault. (See: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showpost...75&postcount=7 ).

If that does not work, have you tried converting to wave and then from wave to Flac?

    Best wishes,
    Bill

Also, what CD were you trying to rip? Did it rip any of the tracks, or did it crash on one particular track every time?

Ugh, unfortunately now my files have no tags and cant be read by my system. SO now I just ripped 25 cd's with no tags :( any way to tag them now?

            Thanks!

ALso should I look for a new ripper that can do flac AND tag without crashing? any suggestions? I tries EAC and Marero but couldnt get it to work.

            Thanks

Try using the Tag from File Name codec (available from Codec Central).
I have not run into a tagging issue with Flac. If I understand Spoon's previous posting (which I referenced in my first post) it looks like some file names may present some type of incompatibility. If crashes were occuring regularly, you may wishe to post exact track details to help Spoon figure out exactly wheree the problem lies.

              Best wishes,
              Bill

Yes the tag names (artist album title, genre, year, tracknumber) it was trying to write will help.

If you want your FLAC files to have tags, you might try converting to another tagged-lossless format such as Monkey's Audio and hten converting to FLAC.

Sppon, This happens on any CD I try to rip...

If I uncheck write tags it works fine, however, I cant use the files on my system (Sonos) that way.

I have tried ANY of the tag formats, but it always crashes, unkess I uncheck write tags.

Can someone help me here? I really want to use DBpower amp with Flac, and it appears others are... what am I doing wrong?

Could you please post the details for one track based on the information from FreedB?

Have you tried LtData's suggestion to rip to Monkeys or other tagged lossless format and then to Flac?

Have you tried the Tag From File Name codec?

                      Best wishes,

As far as ripping to monkey and then converting to FLAC, well, it's not really ideal as I have 600 CD's to RIP,,,,, and a 2 year old

Also I'm not sure what the "tag From File Name codec" is, or how to use it. Could someone provide a link and the basic concept of how to use it?

I'll post track info when I get home later.

                        thanks

The "Tag From File Name" codec is a utility codec available from Codec Central (tab at the top of this page will get you there). It will write tags for designated files based on their filenames. Although it would be an extra step, you should be able to apply this codec to any number of tracks at once.

Similarly, if converting to another tagged lossless format will work for you (and you will want to experiment with a few small samples to assure it will work) then you should be able to convert your cd's to the alternate format and then do large batch conversions to Flac.

Your best bet should be the Tag From Filename codec however.

                          Best wishes,
                          Bill

It is a priority that I look into this crash, I will look in a couple of weeks (busy working on Sveta right now).

just wanted to followup and thank everyone for trying to help. i have decided to use easy cd-da extractor to start ripping my 600 cd collection to flac.

i liked dbpoweramp but cant wait for this tagging issue to be fixed.

                              thanks to all..
