    LAME Preset Maps in 3.97

In dBPoweramp, one cannot write their own command line. You have to select from a list of presets (example: alt preset standard and alt preset standard fast). Do these "old" presets map directly to -V2 and -V2 vbr new respectively when using LAME 3.97.dll?

They appear to but I want to make sure. The whole reason to use 3.97 is to use the best LAME version available to achieve the best quality. If the optimized presets are not being used (-V2 vbr new), it defeats the purpose and I might as well use 3.90.3.

Not so. You can use the Lame CLI codec from Codec Central to use a command-line interface for Lame.

You have to select from a list of presets
This is also not quite accurate since you can select "No Preset" and specify your own settings using the regular Lame codec to specify cbr/vbr/abr, bitrate (or bitrate range), frequency, and channels.

The current Lame version supported by dMC is v 3.96.1. I know there was a revision in the presets with 3.93 (if I remember correctly). Whether this is the latest set of preset settings, perhaps another user would know.

    Best wishes,
    Bill

that's true. And 3.96.1 uses the -V presets so if alt preset standard maps to -V2 for 3.96.1, it should work for 3.97 as well.
