Problems encoding first track on CD

i am trying to encode the first track on a cd and currently have tried 10 times. each time that i do it i check the track and see if it worked correctly and the track is dead silent until about 2 mins and 30 secs into it and then it starts up in the middle of the song. only once have i been able to get it to work correctly. i have tried doing it the same way i did before and it now doesn't work. all the other tracks on the cd work just fine. can anyone help me??

Try checking for any DSP effects or for CD Copy Protection via the "DRM and Copy Protection" section of this forum.
Also, try the latest dMC beta, mabye?

If all else fails see if other rippers (Windows Media Player, CDEX, EAC, etc.) have the same problem with the track. if you haev WMP9/10 already on the PC it's fairly easy/painless to rip to .WMA lossless, and then turn DBPowerAmp loose on the resulting file.
