    isnt the converter freeware?

i thought the converter was freeware. i really want to get rid of the wma files on my pc and change them to mp3, but when i run the program it only gives me a message that says:

the 'poer pack' & Mp3 encoding license trial have expired

the power pack adds advanced options to dBpowerAMP and Mp3 encoding license allows unlimited mp3 writing.

i guess im just confused, do i need to pay to convert wma to mp3?

Although the converter is freeware, the mp3 encoder is not, ever since the patent holder for mp3 technology (Thomson) began charging dBPowerAMP for royalties on the use of mp3 technology.

Yes it is confusing and yes it is aggravating, but there it is. This issue has affected most, if not (as I suspect) all, of similar music programs, as well.

If you can forego the use of mp3, the converter is (still) freeware.
