Worth. Is there good reason to switch?

Hi, I've been using 10.1 for over a year now.

With 11.x being mandatory pay to use the LAME encoder, is there much reason to switch from 10.1 with the 3.93.1 LAME to 11.x with the newer 3.96.x LAME?

I've not had any problems over the duration with 3.93.1 and if it's just a speed issue, 30-45 seconds per CD isn't going to kill me. Especially being that I have been converting 300-600 files at a shot while I head out to work. So it's not like I'm using my machine for anything else for the 8 hours.

Also, in the DMC CD application, I had an old LG CD-RW that configured and showed configured. I swapped to this new LG combo drive 4163B DVD-RW/CD-RW drive and it told me it configured it, says Accurate rip is enabled but when I look it says, unconfigured, waiting for key disc, and doesn't do anything when I insert my key disks being I've already configured it. It's not showing an offset.

Anywho, those are my questions at hand that I really couldn't find discussed anywhere. I did try a search but came up empty handed.

If you don't switch, you cannot capture improvements in dMC, you may not be able to add other codecs that you don't currently have as they might be incompatible. The time may come when some of your existing codecs may be insufficient for, say, decoding purposes of some files, which may have been encoded with newer versions of codecs.

If it won't let you configure the drive, can you click "Reset" besides the "Configured" part?
As for why to switch, r11 (and r11.5 in beta) has many bug fixes to dMC. See here for r11:http://www.dbpoweramp.com/Version-Changes-DMC.htm
For 11.5, see the beta link below.

Alright, so for right now and for what I do, I don't really need to upgrade.

The only part that might be in effect for me is the "Higher Quality" mp3 decoder. But other than that, I don't use any of the features that got tweaked.

For the most part, I just use it to rip CD's and once in awhile, I convert 48Khz 320 Kbit mp3's to 44Khz 320 Kbit mp3's so that my 5 ban compressor will work on them.

        Thank you for the information.

I may have to "upgrade" in another year or two. We'll see.
