    What's missing?

    Hi,
I have a small problem here. Every time I try to convert a mp3 into a mp3pro file I get this error:
The CODEC required to decompress '...' could not be opened
    So, I don't know what's missing?
    Do You have an idea?

    thx 4 hlp

    Re: What's missing?

Download the mp3pro codec here http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-mp3pro.htm
You also need the Thompson mp3pro player here: http://www.mp3prozone.com/download.htm

        Re: What's missing?

One is a decoding codec and the other one is an ecoding codec.

Does that happens for all mp3 files you try to convert or just one?

Have you tried a Test Conversion (no write) ?

          Re: What's missing?

Yes, no file can be converted. I tried 30 different MP3s and every time I get this error.
Yepp, I tried the test conversion and it dosn't work too.

            Re: What's missing?

Well if you cannot test-convert your mp3s, dMC cannot decode them to start with, so herein lies your problem. Try downloading the latest dMC Beta and trying a Test Conversion again.

Wrong installation folder. Not signed in as an admin maybe ....
              Corrupted files possibly.

Is it an mp3 file or is it an .m3u file? How do you know they are mp3's ?

Has it ever worked for you?

                Re: What's missing?

Okay - but if it dosent work afterwards what should I do then?

                //edit:
I Installed it today and tried 2 h ago.
I'm sure that the files ar mp3's 'cause I ripped them with Free Rip (just for note).
                It never worked - that's why I'm here ^^

                //edit the second:
I can't belove it, it works! After reinstall. before i used version 11.0 I think but now I use 11.5. Silly.

                Thanks for your help!

                  Re: What's missing?

Not the answer I was looking for.

What is the extension? If you can't see it, see here: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=5361

When you hover over the file name, what do you see? It should tell you the type it is, what codec encoded it, bitrate, frequency, channels, length.

What player plays your files? Can they be played in Windows Media Player? Winamp? Real Player?

Finally use dMC Configuration and copy to clipboard all the configuration and paste it here.

If it doesn't work you'll have to face the probability that your files are somehow no good, or encoded by some strange encoder.

Or they are in fact of a different type altogether, not mp3, and they have been mislabelled as mp3 when they are not that at all.

That's another codec and you also need the Thompson program for that - which you cannot get here.

Did you install the Thompson mp3pro software into the default location? Did you install the mp3pro decoder AND encoder?
