When the auxiliary input recorder is set to record from the wave/mp3 function, where does it pull the audio stream from? Is it intercepted as the OS shuttles the sound data to the soundcard making it hardware independant or is it picked up after processing necessitating a two step DA AD converstion? The reason I ask is I want to run the program on my laptop which does not have a very good soundcard and I would hate to introduce any unececessary noise. Thanks!

And I don't see why there is a "2-step conversion". Your soundcard takes the digital wave or mp3 data and converts it to analog for your speakers. That is the stream you will be recording. If you want a better D/A converter, you will have to buy a USB soundcard for your laptop.Comment
