    Filename to Tag - proper placement

    Hi

    I am using the "Tag to Filename" feature but i seem to be having problems with the proper placement in the Tag. I tried a bunch of different combinations but no success.

    Any suggestions

    Thanks!

    Filename;
    XTC_English Settlement_Album 1 Track 3_Senses Working Overtime.mp3

    Tag Recognition
    [artist]_[album]_[track number]_[track]

    ID Tag

    Artist;XTC_English Settlement
    Title;Senses Working Overtime
    Album;Album 1 Track 3
    Track;
    ..........................................

    BUT

    its works if I do this....

    Filename;
    XTC_English Settlement_Track 3_Senses Working Overtime.mp3

    Tag Recognition
    [artist]_[album]_[track number]_[track]

    ID Tag

    Artist;XTC
    Title; English Settlement
    Album; Senses Working Overtime
    Track; Track 3

    The underscore character should not be used here as a separator since one of your tag fields already has it in as a regular character.

    The separator should be a distinct character. You can use the hyphen in this case. Don't use the slashes (avoid both backslash and forward slash) since this is for folder creation or addressing.

      Not sure if I understand you correctly?... I replaced the underscore with a hyphen but still getting the same thing in the ID Tag box.

        Are you trying to generate ID tags from the file name or change file names to refelct the ID tags? Those are 2 different actions.

        If you're trying to geenrate ID tags from the file name whatever you specify as separator is used to break up the file name into ID tag fields, if that character is there.

        If any of the pieces of file name happen to contain that same character then it's going to be broken right there. A bit of mnaul intervention is required to first rename the files properly so the ID tags can be etxracted from them with no ambiguity.

            A track number is harder to pick out from there since it needs to be be numeric whereas you have text.

                Might try 03 for the track number.
