Yeah I went down the same line of testing you are recommending before I posted here. As I said, I expected the regular dMC client to be more stable than the scripting component.

I did download Real Producer 10 Basic and it converts fine and did suffice my immediate need.

As I said before I would pay to get this fixed. If someone wants to fix it and get paid to do so, they can send me a price quote.

I have asked the developer if he wishes to quote.

        Hi Monica,

I'm the developer of the Real Audio encoder codec. I've had play with the encoder on XP SP2 and managed to get it to crash using an encoding setting of 28kbps @ 48kHz. This seems to be a problem in the Real Audio DLL's. All other settings seem to work fine.

Which encoding settings are you using?

        Best regards,
        Daren.

Idea a person gave me in PM: Where are these files located? Are they deep in the folder structure or are they really close to C:\? If they are far away, try making a folder in C itself and copying the files there, then trying again, mabye?

Hi Daren... I was definitely encoding at @28Kbps, 56Kbps, and ISDN.

I was not encoding at 48Khz though... Input and Output both are at 44.1Khz.
