    time to update?

back in Nov04 i dowloaded and installed the then latest version of dBpowerAMP Music converter. I have used it well and now have over 2500 files of classical music on my hard drive. I am getting ready to rip a new batch of cds that I got and would like to know if I need to update or upgrade my version of the software. I don't even know where to look to find out what version i have. any help?

One of the programs you have is dMC Configuration. This will tell you what versions you have of all the avrious programs.

Just so you know, the current version of dMC is release 11 and the registered (thus paid) version is now required to continue converting to mp3 due to patent regulations imposed lately.

If you already had purchased the Powerpack then you are not required to pay again when you upgrade. Just make sure that you install on top of what you already have (do not uninstall first) so as to preserver the registered status, otherwise it's a hassle to revive it.

If you never did buy the PowerPack and are not willing to buy the registered version of dMC now either, just do not upgrade and continue using what you have. Upgrades will not be possible to dMC without losing the ability to convert to mp3 in that case. However an upgraded dMC will work for all other codecs even if not registered.
