help converting .mpg to mp3

i tried to convert a .mpg file to a mp3. As the converting finished, i listened to the finished mp3 product, but the mp3 sounds so much faster than the .mpg version. is there a way to convert the mpg to mp3...., the mp3 sounding the same as the original?

Try the free version of Video Cleaner from www.riverpast.com.
Convert the mpg to wmv and then use dMC to convert wmv to something else.
