    wave to MP3 problem

I had no problem until recently to convert from a big (10meg or so) .wav file to a one meg MP3 for emailing. I purchased dbpoweramp and I still can't do it. I keep getting an error message :

The CODEC required to compress 'C:\Bonati\Live0521.mp3' could not be opened.

    Can anyone help? Thanks.

What are the properties of your file? Is it 16-bit or 24-bit? What is its frequency? 44100Hz (44.1KHz)? How many channels is it?
LAME will only accept inputs that are 16-bit, 2-channel, 44100Hz. If you source WAV isn't these same specifications, convert it to these settings, changing one setting at a time (change frequency, convert, change bits, convert, change channels, convert) and then take this final wav and try to convert it.

Up until the past week or so I could convert my 16 bit, 44100 .wav file to MP3 with no problem. All of a sudden i couldn't do it. I understood from dbpoweramp that I had to pay for the use. So I did. It still won't work, even though it worked perfectly the same way for the past year.

Check dMC Configuration (Start --> Programs --> dbPowerAmp Music Converter --> Configuration --> dMC Configuration). Does it show dMC as registered?

10MB is not really big for a wav file, it corresponds to about 1 minute PCM 16-bit 44.1KHz, 2-channel stereo.Or 2 minutes mono. Unless your wav file is compressed in which case it could be anything.

If you were using the trial version of dMC and installed it anew, even if it hadn't expired previously yet, it does expire in that case immediately, unless you pay the license and install that version properly. For some reason some people have problems completing the transaction of either buying the license or downloading the software or installing it.
