Converting CDA to mp3 or wav

The CDA file I want to convert is actually a video - with sound.

My computer DVD player played the video until a few days ago, but now I can't get it to play, and I don't know what could have happened.

The DVD player hooked to my TV plays the video with no problem.

here is the message I get when trying to convert:

"The CODEC required to decompress 'D:\Track01.cda' could not be opened.
Unable to access CD Drive 'D:\Track01.cda'"

I want to convert the file so I can grab certain audio portions.

Can anyone help?

There seem to be at least 2 problems here. The one about your dvd player no longer playing the file on the PC is one of them.

Is the dvd player your drive D?

Is the video in question a regular track on an audio cd? is it an extra hidden video track added to an audio cd making this a mixed type cd? is it a VCD perhaps?

I don't see why a video track would be identified as .cda , but then I've not seen all the different types of cd's out there for sure.

Using dMC Audio CD Input for a non-standard cd track may not work, even if your drive were able to read the cd properly.

Are you sure that this CD isn't a mixed-mode CD that has video content that plays, but also has an audio portion?

Are you using dMC (rather than dMC Audio CD Inoput) to convert a track and specifying for the file destintion "same folder as original"? this doesn''t work when you're working with cda's.

Also if it's a video file somehow digsuised as an audio track the conversion won't work anyway as it only works on ..well... audio trakcs.

have you tried ripping the DVD with, say, Alcohol 120%? It may be able to bypass some security on the disc. I think you would have to use .MDS to rip the disc.

The disk is a DVD disk, but the file has a .cda extension. It IS a video, with audio. Does this mean it's mixed-media? It's beginning to look pretty hopeless... :/ Thanks for trying to help!
