musepack MPC questions/

Is there anything else needed, except the musepack, for conversions/playback?

Where can i find the bit settings for insane, braindead, etc? So far i've only
been able to get 44KHz @ 140Kbps using braindead. I thought this was able
to do up to 320Kbps...

Can other players (winamp, creative) be made to playback MPC extensions?

Don't know about the other, but here's one for Winamp: http://www.mpex.net/en/software/details/inmpplus.html
And the MPC codec is all you need for coversion/playback. Look for an "advanced options" button, mabye?

I found this in_mpc_0.99f (a link to it) over at the winamp site.
It works good.
I now know mpc is VBR only so no problem there.

Need a defination of "ReplayGain and ClipProtect", on or off?

Still would be nice to know the braindead\insane\etc definations....

This is the best site (in my personal opinion )for your Musepack needs. All encoders, decoders and plug-ins here.

This page explains all the definitions of braindead etc. Note that these settings are now out dated and are referred to as quality level 5, 6 etc.

I would recommend using Quality level 5 - formerly standard, (between 142 - 178 k/bits) in the first instance and see what you think. My personal thoughts are that it is indistinguishable from some of the lame presets for higher bitrates.
