Did you install the WMP System Codecs? You need them to use the WMA codecs.

What version of WMP do you have? If you have 10, I don't think you need the System Codecs...or am i wrong?

        Re: Installation problems

That error normally means the WMA system codecs aren't installed or need to be reinstalled. Note that the system codecs are different from the dMC Codecs.

Yeah, but I mean, I never had to install the System codecs. I just installed WinXP Pro (i tried Home too, with permission of my school) , and the codecs, i think, CAME with the system, because all I had to do was install WMP 10 and the dMC WMA 9.1 codecs....and I was done for getting my computer set with WMA audio.

            Re: Installation problems

If you install XP with SP2, you have WMP 9. WMP 10 is a separate download.
With this error, though, it indicates that either something is wrong with the system codecs or they aren't installed. Reinstalling the WMA system codecs should remedy this problem.

Eh? SP2 COMES with Windows Media Player 10.

...and the dbpoweramp WMA 9.1 codec has the system stuff built in.

                  Re: Installation problems

SP2 does NOT come with WMP 10 unless you include it on your install cd. By default, Windows XP Service Pack 2 includes only up to Windows Media Player 9.
