    Problem converting CDs to MP3

I've been converting my CDs to mp3 with the dBPowerAMP CD Grabber (paid for!).
I've got the quality set to 192kbps, Stereo, 44kHz and ticked the box for 'Slow Accurate Ripping'.
Most of the CDs are classical piano or organ and most seem to exhibit significant distortion in the resulting MP3. Rather like - in analogue terms - as if the recording level was too high.

Is there something obvious I'm doing wrong? (I'm not an expert with this!)

    Thanks

    Steve

Well....why don't you try out OGG Vorbis instead of MP3 and see if the problem persists.
If it does - maybe your soundcard/speakers are set up wrong.
It could be your cd-drive causing the distortion - but I doubt it.
AFAIK then DAE (Digital Audio Extraction) doesn't affect volume at all......

Or even to Wave - 44KHz 16 bit Stereo, then there is no compression and it will tell you if it is the CD ripping, or the mp3 compression that is causing the problem.

Also under 'DSP Effects' - Rip with options from the menu, make sure there are no DSP effects there.
