    Audio player not playing m4a

    Hi,

I have a collection containing mp3s and aacs(m4a) and usually in itunes I can play all of them perfectly but I just decided to switch to dBpowerAMP and I can only play mp3s

If I try to play a m4a which I have added to my library then it says playing for about 0.5 seconds, it then makes a red square and says 'not playing'.

    Thanks in advance

Are your .m4a's encrypted? That would be why iTunes can play them but not dAP.

If the m4a is protected, you cannot play it in dAP. At least, I don't think you can.

Do you have the decoding codecs required?
Did you associate thsi type of file with dAP in File associations?

Can you convert thsoe .m4a's to a diffrent fromat? Even as a test conversion? If not, dAP cannot read them for whatever reason.

I may be mistaken, but ripping CDs using iTunes sofware can result in copy-protected files, depending on the settings you use. WMP certainly does this and I know someone who ripped hundreds of his own CDs using WMP and ended up with files that would only play using WMP. Caveat emptor!

              What does that mean?

Are these m4a files able to be played in other media players other than iTunes?

                caveat emptor = buyer beware.
Also, I've been told iTunes does NOT have a setting to make copy-protected rips.
