Ogg Vorbis. Definitely. If you're struggling off of floppies, I would DEFINITELY recommend Ogg Vorbis at around 64~96 kbps.

A floppy? If you want something that will fit on a floppy, its going to sound like garbage. You COULD do Ogg Vorbis at a low bitrate, but that compromises the sound a LOT. Can you not network these two computers, even with a parallel cable?

yh yh i could go on to networking and all, but i dont no too much about it other than need a network card in your pci slots and what do you suggest about paralell slots and how long will that process take - eg. buying installing, usiing...??? THANX

dude get to the real world. GET A CD BURNER for crying out loud. Who's heard of a guy transporting audio via floppies? CD burners are cheap these days anyway...

I used floppies for transporting audio, but I split the songs into multiple floppies.

Are you using Windows XP? If you are, this article from Windows Knowledge Base will help. More help is always forthcoming on this forum,, should you need it. But I think networking is the way to go in your case.

If both computers have an available usb port you can use one of those little external usb memory sticks that can hold from 32MB to 128MB at about $10-20 from a place like http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...3&Sku=L61-3498 (NB: Canadian prices, US prices will be lower). You can probably transfer one at a time your audio files in lossless format, or 5-10 of them in some lossy format like wma or mp3 or other at acceptable bit rates.

                Re: compressing!!

Disconnect the harddisk from the first computer, install it in the second computer for an hour (keep in mind the master/slave setting).
Copy the music files. Put the harddrive back in first computer (master/slave setting).
                That's the way I would do if I hadn't a network or USB-stick.
                It's the fastest way.
If you don't trust yourself doing it, maybe you can ask the familynerd

                Good luck

lol Tigerman. I forgot about switching hard drives.

Yeah, like Tigerman said, yassirnasir, you could switch hard drives. That's the fastest/easiest way if you want to transfer lots of music WITHOUT A CD BURNER. (subliminal message: Get one!)

yas, remember this: I'm a high school student. I feel self-obligated to help ppl on the dBpowerAMP Music Converter support forum EVERYDAY....once in the morning (between 7-7:30 AM PST,) once in the noontime (between 12-12:30 PM PST) and once in the evening (between 3-9 PM PST)

And whenever I find a post I can't answer to, I just ignore it and hope someone else makes a quick reply. These people include ChristinaS, LtData, iTunesIsEvil, adaywayne, and, me, of course.

Good luck with your music transferring, yas. Later mate.
