I have a question. Recently I have been downloading a ton of SHN files from a Yahoo Music Archive. I have been using your CD Writer to then burn them onto disc. However I have also been saving them to my hard drive. I have downloaded so much music my Hard Drive is now starting to lack space. I can only think of two solutions - one is begin making a back up copy of every CD that I burn and then deleting the file - two is to take the SHN files which are already of really high quality and converting them into MP3 files - then converting the MP3's to WAV files when I burn them onto disc. I have been advised not to convert SHN files to MP3's because of quality loss. Can you tell me how much quality is lost when converting SHN files to MP3's? As long as the original SHN recording was of really good quality would it really make that much difference as long as I converted it to the highest degree of quality MP3?

Re: SHN to MP3 - MP3 to WAV
Because I'm running out of room on my hard drive from the size of the SHN files. Right now I have 43.3 GB's of music files on my CPU - I don't want to go through the hassle of making an extra copy of discs - I could put the files on Data CD's but I don't really feel like doing that either. Also the Audio Discs that are available for a good price aren't the best quality. They scratch very easily and I want to have a back up copy on my hard drive for re-burning if necessary. MP3's may have less quality but they also only take up a fifth of the space on my hard drive so if I converted all of my SHN files to MP3's it would save a ton of space. Do you know of a file type that would retain the quality, yet take up less space on my hard drive?Comment

Re: SHN to MP3 - MP3 to WAV
Shorten is lossless (ie audio identical to cd), mp3 is lossy - there are better codecs such as ogg vorbis, or m4a (aac).Comment
