Convert wav to Mp3

On my motorola v600 I get a "corrupt file" error message when I download a file I converted to an mp3 from a wave. Are there specific settings I should be using? Does anyone know or maybe point me to a website with more info. This is a great program BTW

Can you play the mp3 file properly on yoru pc using any of the players?

What are the specs of the original wav file and those of the mp3 file?
