    iPod .aac or .mp4 files

I used Window Media Player to rip 5,029 songs from my CDs to my hard drive. They are unprotected WMA files. Now I want to transfer them over to my iPod. Should I use the .aac codex or the mp4 or even the m4a codex?

The iPod can only read AAC files in a mp4 container. There is a codec on the mp4 pages that does this. Just encode to mp4.

I see AAC to MP4, MP4 to ACC plus a few more. Could you be more specific and post the codex name to D/L. Many thanks

download all of 'em and test em yourself. the sound quality is based on opinion, not truth.

Just get the mp4 Encoding and the mp4 decoding codec and put your mp4 files on your ipod.
The FAAC Encoder is normally recommended for the highest quality.

Unless you have a registered copy of Quicktime or Nero installed then I would those codecs instead. The version of FAAC under codec central is also outdated but you can use the latest one with the generic CLI codec.
