RM To Mp3

Hi! I'm from Germany!

When I try to convert 17 rm. files to mp3 files I have to wait more than 1 hour to finish the process! What is the problem? I have the newest version of RealPlayer namely Version 10.5! I hope that somebody can help me!

That is the way it is. Real media files are converted at about 1x., i.e., it takes about as long as the files would take to play.

But with the software Mini-streamRM-MP3Converter it takes only 30 seconds a song and the quality is very good!

Maybe it uses a crappy mp3 codec. The one that dMC uses is the highest quality. The mp3 codec associated with dMC is called LAME, which stands for "Lame Ain't An MP3 Encoder" (even tho it is) . The mp3 codecs that come with other programs such as RealPlayer or Winamp come with crappier, but faster speeds on the conversions...

So here's the general idea:

Fast conversion ~ Not so good sound quality.
Slow Conversion ~ Best sound quality possible.

Install the DirectShow beta codec (uninstall the ra codec) and install Real Alternative. You can find the codec in the beta section of this forum.
