10 seconds of silence

OK, I've successfully used the db converter many times and it worked great. I recently finished converting 100 tapes to CD. I took a brief hiatus and yesterday began converting my vinly to cd. I used the same LP Recorder/Ripper program I used on the tapes.Everything worked just fine and and dandy. I got great sounding .wav files. The problem arose somewhere in the conversion. When using the db converter (from wav to mp3) the result in each case was an mp3 file consisting of 10 seconds of silence. I tried several times tweeking this and that and regardless of what I did the result was the same 5 mp3 files consisting of 10 seconds of silence. I even tried downloading the mp3 lame codex again and got the same result. I am flummoxed. Any ideas? Please reply directly to my email address if possible; ricklamparzyk@cox.net

ok you said to email you, but i'll also post here as well. Have you tried converting it to another format, such as .APE or .FLAC or .WMA or .OGG? Do you still get the 10 seconds silence?

You may not have the license for using the mp3 encoding codec. ALthough I'd expect that to actually give an error message.

wait a minute. Doesn't dBpowerAMP Music Converter ALREADY come with the LAME 3.96.1 mp3 codec? I'm confused now.

Not after 30 days (or immediately, it seems, if you have an older version already unstalled) unless you cough up the cash! I suspect the poster may have Version 10, not 11.

Just having the mp3 encoding codec isn't enough to allow you to use it with dMC beyond v.10. You must also have the valid PowerPack license.

It will not be that, no conversion will take place if no license.

Have a look at the DSP Effects - it is possible to have 2 effects that would create a 10 second silence file.

Are you WAV files 16-bit or 24-bit? What is their frequency?

restatement of what LtData said: Is this a standard WAV or a different kind of WAV? standard is usually 16 bit 44khz or something like that....

Try a bit of experimenting - create some wave files from an audio cd (use Audio CD Input), try playing them, make sure they are ok, then try converting to mp3 (lame), again try playing make sure they are ok.
