DBpoweramp Won't work!

Hi all, Last week my version of DB poweramp stopped working. It's reg'd but, any type of file i try to open i just keep getting errors. It either won't open a file to read it, decompress it or do most anything.

This is an error message from converting an mp3 to different bitrate

The file 'E:\13 - Placebo - -Hidden Track-.mp3' could not be opened.

This is an error mssg from trying to convert .flac to Mp3

The CODEC required to decompress 'E:\Bittorrent\1977-05-09 - Mr Pig Oakland CA\pf 1977-05-09 d1t02.flac' could not be opened.

I know the codecs are good and in the right folders but these are more or less the standard errors i'm getting. it worked fine up to last week then nothing, strangely enough from talking to friends in irc i aint the only person suffering from this problem

Have you recently changed your compression settings? Did you create these files yourself?

What bitrate, frequency etc. are the files you are having problems with?

For a short answer, it's all of em! Some of the files i have downloaded but most are from CD rip's as I'm an Internet dj on a small station and i need the files for that. if i get sent tracks then i convert them to MP3 to make it easier for my player to to use them and also for my personal MP3 player to store them as they are smaller than .WMA, they are the only formats my MP3 player will store and play.

Frequency i use is 44100, the bit rate is set to studio quality and 256kbps. I don't remember changing any settings from installation except for setting the bit rate at 256k, i tend to leave things well alone. Software is not one of my strong points. then one day with no apparent reason, i aint even installed any other software to upset it, it stopped working. Even after reinstaling still nothing.

Sorry guy's had to go away for a couple of days on buisness.. E! is a drive name where the file is stored, and E:\bittorrent is another file location for my Pink floyd collection. I got pink floyd everywhere, i'm a collector.

Try playing it in something else, it could be one corrupt file.

I'm not trying to play it! That much I can do. I use Winamp, it plays most anything. i'm trying to convert it from monkey audio to MP3 or, any other file to a lower bitrate so as i can play it on an MP3player. They soon fill up when files are at 256 or higher

What happens if you try a test conversion or convert the files to wav?

Hold the mouse over the mp3 file - is the bitrate 384 Kbps?

Hey guys, Things have moved on a bit now. I found a .flac encoder/player codec for winamp. This has allowed me access to the info inside the file and the .flac files are corrupt, dodgy file header they won't play at all. The .ape files now seem to be functioning correctly as does the rest of DBpoweramp. Thanks Wayne i didn't know it did test conversions till you mentioned it i have tried it on just about every file format to every other format and all is seemingly well. I don't know if this was a conflict of software or drivers but it seems fine now only time will tell i suppose. The files spoon were showing at 192kbps, I couldn't tell if there was anything wrong with 'em as i never had any before in that format but, after getting the plugin for winamp it allowed me to encode a raw file to .flac and do a comparison with what i had already and the information listed in the windows hover bubble is greatly different. Thanks guys for your help, if it goes nipples skywards again i know there are people here to help.
