Re: Searching for a codec to convert my music to AAC Plus

I believe NERO is the only AAC Plus encoder (HE AAC) available to use with the converter at this moment in time. You will need a registered copy of Nero first.

What bitrates are you after? AAC Plus is for low bitrates (30 - 70 k/bits) only. If you mean you just want ipod compatible m4a files you are limited to FAAC unless you have Nero, Compaact or Quicktime installed.

Edit: If you are happy setting up and using the CLI encoder you can use itunesencode to call on itunes aac codec from within the music converter. Search for it on google. Of course you will need itunes installed as well.

      Thank you .
I have Nero and i ues Nero Wave Editor 2(Nero 6 Ultra Edition) to convert my CD to HE-AAC(Nero Digital Audio) files with the extension .mp4. I choose SBR/STEREO 80 kps [HE-AAC]. the file is only 1.83M :smile2:

Didn't think so, ipod is standard aac in a m4a container only.

I thought so. I should have emntioned it on my first reply.

Fishswim - it's not woth encoding to HE AAC to use with the ipod. Suggest you use Nero's portable preset and see how that fits with you.

              Thank you, Tomb ,Spoon.
You know the ipod just can play 8 hours.I want the HE AAC can help ipod prolong the play time.
              But now,It's impossible.
Tomb, the NERO is really a good encoder. Thank you for your introduction.
Can Nero Wave Editor 2 read .cda file? I use dBpowerAMP Music Converter to convert .cda files to .wave, then use Nero change it to .m4a.

Speaking of AAC plus, does a 80 bps aac file sound better than a 128 bps mp3 file?

I thought so,if you play the HE AAC with realplayer10.
                  It sounds like 320k MP3.

I don't know about a 320kbps mp3, but it should sound better then a 128kbps. Just remember that HE ACC is designed for low-bitrate applications. Also, the hardware support is SERIOUSLY lacking right now.

i dun care about hardware support. Temporarily, I'm using my computer for audio only, so if HE AAC is as good as it is, I'm moving to it.

I hope APPLE can upgrade ipod for supporting HE AAC.
