First of all Real Audio is converted in real time, so it takes as long as the song is to convert, and there's no progress indication. When it ends, the conversion is done... unless it has failed.

Secondly you may not have been trying to convert the actual real audio file but maybe the meta-file, which is nothing but a text file giving the name (or the url) of the actual audio file - so it really is just a pointer, a reference to the actual file. If the file you were trying to convert has the extension .ram and if it's small (1-2k) then this is the case. You need to get the actual audio file in order to conevrt it. If it's still on the web, you'll have to download it separately.
