Some files just will not play

I've added new files to my hard drive (and even selected and did an 'add to dap'). Or, I try to listen to ones on a cd, but some files just will not play. filetype is listed as dbamp mp3. tag looks just like the files which DO play.

Re: Some files just will not play

Can you play them in another player like Windows Media Player or Winamp or Real Player?

And when you say you added them, do you mean you donwloaded them, bought them from an on-line store or made them through conversion from another audio type or through ripping an audio cd?

      Christina,

All of the above. The locations are correct, because other audio players will play them. All I get is 'not playing'.....

        Ok, let's try again.

You mean you have some .mp3 files which can be played in all sorts of media players but not in dAP? And then you have other .mp3 files which can be played in dAP? Always referring to files on the same computer?

Do the files that do not play in any way differ from those that do play in terms of specs? bitrate, channels, etc?

Looking at one, the freq is 48000 vs 44100 and the bitrate is 320, but that is within what dba can play. Editing the tag will not save the changes...

          Thanx

If the file plays in Windows Media Player, open up WMP and right-click on the file and go to Properties. What Audio Codec does it say its using? This is just to check to make sure its not a mis-named extension.

Mabye try converting this file to a WAV file and see if that plays.

Are you using the latest versions of dMC and dAP?

Downloaded it twice. Trial has expired on conversion, but that should be moot.

How are you attempting to play these files with dAP? From Windows Explorer, from within My Music Collection or using a playlist?

Do you get any error messages or does dAP just skip them?

Wayne, again, all the above. Singly, I get the display of the player, and my number one hit 'not playing' scrolling. Playlists or albums just list and skip. No error messages.

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling DAP?

Just did a re-install, which I believe does an uninstall first..
