Problem when converting .ogg to mp3

    Hi.
I am converting .ogg to mp3 with the plugin, but when I do this the new .mp3 has some seconds of delay and have a bit of sound. I mean the 1st 2-3 seconds have a kind of the previous song fade out. Only after that comes the music of the track. So I have been cutting those previous seconds but this gives me a lot of work.

Am I doing anything wrong and can those starting seconds be avoided?
    Thank you in advance.

What plugin are you referring to?
And what are the specs of your .ogg files and the .mp3 files?

      Thanks for your reply ChristinaS.

I am using the codec: dBpowerAMP-OggVorbis-CLI (cause I have a Pentium 4) and the specs are +/- 80 kbps .ogg into 256 kbps .mp3.

Ooops I just made a boo-boo. That codec I am using but for the .mp3 I am using Lame.

        Thanks once again.

I'm assuming the ogg files themselves do not do this?

You are assuming right. The .ogg files are fine - they start with its music track immediately.

This is weird, seems like it is "grabbing" part of the former track or something. I am careful. I am not playing anyother song on the computer while I am encoding the .ogg into .mp3.

            Thanks.

Try converting the ogg files to another format, such as wav, and see if this still happens.

Ok I will. And I will post the results.

                Thanks

                  Hi again.
I already encoded the same set of .ogg files into .mp3 and .wave and it still gives me the delay in .mp3 but not in the .wave files.

I also noticed that when I encode into .mp3 it shows me "7x Realtime Encoding" and into .wav it shows me "32x Realtime Encoding".

Is this realted in anyway? What can I do then?

                  Thanks.

The encoding difference is normal. Its because mp3 is a compressed format, wav is compressed. To go from ogg to mp3, it has to uncompress the ogg file, then recompress it into a mp3 file.
Are you changing the frequency or bitrate when you make the file mp3?

Also, try converting that wav file to mp3. Does it still have a pause?

I dunno what you mean exactly but I am converting from +/- 80 kbps in .ogg into 256 kbps .mp3. No I don't change the frequency.

I did convert that .wav into .mp3 and it didn't give me the initial pause.

                      Thanks,

I just tried LamedropXPd to convert from .ogg to .mp3 and the resulting .mp3 doesn't have have initial "gap".

Could it be the Lame.dll version? I di prefer dBpowerAMP.

                        Thanks

What version of dMC are you using?

Also, are you applying any DSP effects when you are converting to mp3?

I know this doesn't solve your problem, but do you have a particular reason for converting from OGG at 80Kbps to a so much higher bitrate in mp3? What happens if you convert the files to mp3 at 128Kbps....still the same problem?

                              Hi again.

I am using Music Convertor from dMC v10.1
                              and Lame Version 3.93.1.

No, I am not using DSP effects.
