    Speed of LAME in v9

    Hi,
I saw a post from another user on this subject and decided to try something. I found some compiled LAME binaries here: http://home.attbi.com/~jerrybaker/lame/

These are my results for the testfile I had. (DBPower v9, Rip from CD, 6:53 time, 192 stereo, 850piii, 512mb ram, winXP pro)

    3.91 Generic - 52 sec
    3.91 Intel - 44 sec <-- I'm going to use this one
3.92 Generic (Included with DBPowerAmp) - 80 sec
    3.92 Intel - 60 sec
    3.93 Generic - 70 sec
    3.93 Intel - 61 sec

    Interesting?

That is why I am staying with Version 3.91 its signifcantly faster and has all the bug fixes for the alt presets. I can not notice any difference in quality between 3.91 and 3.92/3.93.
    LAME v3.92 April 14 2002:
Many improvements in quality in speed. I don't know about that.

Strange, I haven't noticed any real changes in speed.
