Well, then you've killed something somewhere with your Totalcommander LOL! :D

Why do people always try to mess around with what actually works??? Windows Explorer works as it should with and within Windows. Hard enough to keep a system clean with all the various plugins without having layers upon layers of other stuff as well.

well windows explorer sucks. therefore i use ttcmd. i can also say why do u use dbpoweramp for encoding etc. and not using windows media player for ripping mp3's....... naaah??!

LOL! Because I never rip to .mp3 anyway - and I've never set WMP up with mp3! In fact I rarely rip. I don't own an mp3 player either :p

My needs are rather different from those of most users of this forum. I post audio files to the web, usually in .wma format. I have to convert between various types of audio files and dBpowerAMP is the single most useful program that lets me do that easily and properly 99% of the time. For the other 1% I use whatever else is available.

And yes, I also use Windows Media Encoder - but usually just for video.

Windows Media Player cannot encode to .wma (or anything) unless you rip an audio CD. As I said, I rarely rip cd's :smile2: But when I rip, it's to .wav in any case.

Now, to come back to your Totalcommander thing. Obviously it's a third party application, and obviously it's not necessarily compatible with everything that works in WIndows Explorer. Or if it is, it needs tweaking various parameters.

dBpowerAMP Shell integration refers to the Windows Explorer. If it ever works in anything else, I'd consider that a bonus - or a fluke

ew...f*** Windows Explorer. It is a piece of **** that eats up CPU easily. I use Total Commander (latest version) for organizing files, as it is MUCH easier to use and offers way more features than that thing we called "Explorer"

Anywaz, i have the same quesiton as this guy does. How do you get the popups to work?

                  Re: dMC Configuration vs totalcommander

there is only support for windows explorer pop ups. Spoon can only support so many formats. and windows explorer is the most common so that's what is supported.

but nerds use TotalCommander.... and there ARE quite a number of nerds........

wait, what's a parameter? neuralgeek, a friend of mine on AIM told me that you could "set parameters" in Total Commander. What does that mean? Could I somehow get the popups to work in Total Commander by making a parameter?

Neil why don't you look it up? Any dictionary will explain the term parameter. http://dictionary.reference.com/search?r=67&q=parameter

I fail to see how if you are studying computer science and also are striving to reach geekdom and/or nerd-dom you don't know what that is :D

                          here we go:

ttcmd > configuration > options > display > help texts > check all 4 fields there
                          [/size]

WIth a pedigree like this you qualify :D

The cello adds an interesting tilt to it though.

Which would you rather strive to be? Yo Yo Ma or some maladjusted, antisocial geek? :D
