I would hazard a wild guess that you may have a scratched disc. There are some products on the market that can help to repair these. Can you play the CD in any CD player?

I am assuiming you are using dMC Audio CD Input. Is this the first cd you are trying to rip in this device? Can it otherwise play audio cd's?

Go through Options in dMC Audio CD Input and make sure you have selected the correct drive. Then click on Advanced and check the cd communication. You may need to change that to a different value.

Click on the down arrow next to Options and select Table of Contents Detection and toglle that (on or off).

Have you also tried using Windows Explorer and select the tracks and conevrt by right click using dMC Comverter alone?

Finally make sure you actually have to codec for the file type you want to obtain from your conversion. For mp3 you must have the PowerPack as well.

What is your version of WIndows? If XP, do you have SP2 installed as well?

I tried all of your suggestions, Cristina, to no avail. My cd's are not scratched at all, and the drive plays them just fine. I can rip mp3s with windows media player, but not PowerAmp. I was hoping to use different formats with PowerAmp. This error message is recurring with every try.

        I have Windows XP SP1, not 2.

Converting tracks from Explorer didn't work either?

Is everyhting instaleld to the same folder?

Try Test conversion of one track from Explorer with right click > Convert to?

Is this for all cd's or just one?

No, converting tracks from explorer yeilded same results. Yes, everything is installed in the same folder. And it does this with all the cd's I have. I haven't tried that test conversion yet

Can you rip the tracks to wave files?

Can you convert wave files on your hard-drive to mp3s (and other compressed formats)?

Strange....my only choices are both NT/2000, even though I am running XP. But the ripping still works.
