Artist MP3 ID Tags Disappear When Ripped on Windows 2000 XP

When I am writing in the artists name on custom cds I am ripping to MP3 using Windows 2000 XP as my platform, the tag only later appears for
one of the trax, the rest are blank ,and I have to type them all in manually. How can I correct this?

Are you talking about the ID tag or the track listings with actual song titles and artist names and all that?

The detailed track listings come from the freedb internet database and are only available for cds (usually commercial ones) for which such information has already been entered into the database. dMC Audio CD Input cannot know what are the song titles and artists names that you have on your own home made audio cd. If you get one of them, it will be by fluke, since it may happen to match an entry in the database (just by key signature). In any case it will usualy be totally incorrect.

      Hi Christina!

When I'm typing in the artists name for a custom disc,
for example a compilation, that I want to rip, track for track
into MP3, I have to keep retyping in the artists name, in the
space bar at the top, each time, for each track, as it
disappears otherwise, except for the first track
      I typed it in for.....................

Ones from the database are okay, no problem, tho I find
it rather limited to strictly commercial releases, for
example very few even widely available boots.

But anyways, are you or anybody else familiar
with the artist tag problem and what to do
      to eliminate it?

Well, I have had to type information myself when ripping an audio cd and I set the Artist and other information at the top of the screen, go and edit one track's infromation (the artist will appear in the right-hand column), put in the title, do this for all the tracks for one artist. Repeat for other artists that you may have on the same cd, by first changing the top artist field appearing.

I've not paid much attention, as I rarely have to do it anyway, but it seems that I can specifically modify this for each track that is being displayed.

                  ugh. shut up!

LOL!!! Don't worry, i was joking, i wasn't trying to get mad. :D

Yeah, I'm doing my biology homework right now. The current question:

                  6. Given: Homo Sapiens
                  Find: Genus _________ (Homo)
                  Find: Species: _______ (Sapiens)

pretty easy, I can go on dbpoweramp forums and do hw at the same time.

and for exams, i have finals all next week but i'll still be able to surf dbpoweramp...unless you guys temporarily ban me for a week with a message that says, "GO STUDY FOR YOUR FINALS, DAMNIT, AND COME BACK WHEN UR DONE!" or something like that. :D :D :D

                  chores: Playing the cello.

NOW, finally, back to the point of the thread: I still dont' understand how an unsuccessful upgrade from 2000 to XP would cause mp3 ID tags to disappear....

Ha Ha I stand corrected -Windows XP.
Still is a real pain in the butt when have to keep
clicking in same name separately for each track,
but perhaps is gremlins? Sometimes happens, sometimes
                            doesn't................................

Select none and type the artist, select the top one and type the track name, press enter to move down to next.
