    Codec Difficulties

I downloaded the program yesterday and had no problems with it, I've been using it to convert SHN files to mp3 files (I know, I know...).

As of this morning though, I get this message:

The CODEC required to compress 'C:\Documents and Settings...\770704-d1t01.mp3' could not be opened.

Its a SHN file, so I don't know why its reading it as an mp3, perhaps that is the problem? Maybe there's just a setting I need to adjust, but I'm somewhat new to this whole thing, so any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Actually I think it means that it cannnot open teh codec needed to create the .mp3 file probably because of the settings requested as compared to the .shn file.

Okay, thanks for the quick response, so what should I do to remedy the situation?

Well, what are the settings of your .shn file and what setting were you trying for the .mp3 file?

Can you test convert the .shn file?

Can you play it in any player?

Sorry to sound like an idiot here, but what/where are the settings for the shn file? I only ask because all that I had to do yesterday was right click on the shn file hit convert, change it to mp3(lame) and hit convert. So I really haven't gotten all that in depth with this program...

Ok, if you hover the mouse over the .shn fille you get some information, it will tell frequency and channels.

For a test conversion you select you .shn file > convert to > select "test conversion (no write)" isntead of .mp3 or any other format.

              Okay, here we go:

              Frequency: 44100

              Channels: 2

I'm running a test conversion right now, but after 60 seconds elapsed, there is still 0% completed...

Try to set priority of conversion to below normal.

Are you talking about adjusting the bitrate? If you are, I set it all the way to the left and I still get the same problem...

Priority is adjusted once the conversion starts. By default it is set to "Normal".

I don't even have time - it tries for 1 second then hits me up with the error message...

OK, try to convert a file that you know converts properly (need not be an .shn file, need nto be a conversion to .mp3 either), set the prioroty to below normal. That setting will be preserved for future conversions.

Possibly not a propper shorten file.
