    LP to CD Project

Hi all- I sent the following message to the contact address for DBpoweramp and it was kicked back, so I am trying a post on this forum.
I discovered this site through CNET Download Dispatch.

I am a classical music lover with a collection of 3500 LPs that
I need to convert to CD - a massive project. I have waited for
years until the technology was up to the task. I have burned
a lot of CDs from playlists extracted from other CDs, etc, but
direct recording from LP still seems to be a difficult process,
with limited software available. It has been suggested that I
go from LP to DAT, using filters to eliminate pops, other
noise, etc. and then DAT to CD, but this doubles the total
project time and I had hoped that it would be possible to go
direct LP-CD with some noise filtration in the software used.
DBamp's selection of software is kind of overkill for me, i.e. I am
not so sophisticated as to know exactly which programs I
need for this job. It would REALLY be cool if one of the beta
testers or an experienced user would be willing to lend me some
tech support, i.e. advice on how to set it all up properly for mass
copying done properly right from the beginning;I'd be enormously
grateful if someone skilled in this area might be willing to help me out.
So sorry to bother you with this but a little help at this stage
will save me a lot of grief later. Hope you can assist.
    THANKS!

If you click on my user name and then send me a private message with your email address, I will send you an email with an attachment of a little LP to CD
tutorial I wrote for friends some time ago. It's 2.7MB, so will take a while to download if you have a dial-up connection.

      Re: LP to CD Project

      Hi there!
Not to detract from or denigrate anything Adawayne has sent you, a very comprehensive outline for the process is available from this website:
Page of notes describing the author's experience of transferring LPs to CDR over the last few years, with particular emphasis on the restoration of WAV files on hard disk.

Even after creating hundreds of CDs from LP (which I do for a small monetary reward at times), I still read this site periodically, in case I can find a few extra hints to improve and already very good system.

Adaywayne: I'll be doing a similar project soon. I was wondering if you could send me that LP to CD tutorial you wrote to my email: crazyonskis(at)hotmail(dot)(com)
If you could, that'd be great! Thanks in advance!

Will be done in the next few minutes. Remember, I wrote it for complete beginners, but it should be a good start.

Razgo, there are several reasons why I don't think that is a good idea.

              1. It's in Word format with lot's of graphics and is 1.0MB in size, so would take a lot of Spoon's bandwith if a lot of peole tried to access it.

              2. It is a strictly, step-by-step "how I do it", using two specific sofware programs, so may not be a lot of use to those who already have different recording and editing software.

              3. The subject is really off-topic for the dBPowerAmp forum and may generate a lot of off-topic questions that Spoon and others would not be happy about.

              4. It needs a bit of editing and updating.

Now, if you and Spoon would like a copy I'll be happy to send one. Maybe parts of it could be extracted to add to Spoon;'s audio guide or whatever else you might decide to do with it....including trashing it, which would not upset me in the least!
              Cheers,
              Arnie

I had intended to send the previous post privately, but my mind must have been on something else.

OK, give me a little time to clean it up and I will send it. If I convert all the screenshots to JPG and then re-embed them, that should reduce the size of the file.

neither have i, i think he is cleaning it up first before he emails it. i might just do the online version as i like doing that. it just that anything anyone does to contribute to the usage of dbpoweramp is good.
