    FLAC on context menu

I installed the FLAC Codec and converted a wav to flac fine by right click on a wav file >> convert , but I am puzzled when right clicking on a FLAC file there is no convert or edit tag menu item? Can someone explain this please, the Edit tag is actually a quicker source to info about the file than the extra properties sheet (which for FLAC, is not there either)

Ththis is what "preserve id tags" during a conversion does. However from .wav to anything there are no id tags to be preserved, since .wav files don't have id tags. You can use tag from file name to create tags (I think you need PowerPAck for this).

Hello Christina, thanks for reply , I am not sure it explains why there is no menu item <convert> when right clicking on flac files? And I thought according to codec central that FLAC Files did have ID tags? Have you any FLAC files you can check if you get convert option when right clicking in explorer?

Yes, but there were no tags on the wav files for the converter to save. Therefore, there are no tags on the FLAC files. You can add these tags yourself or via the "Tag via Filename" utility codec. This utility codec, though, requires the PowerPack.

I thought you were converting TO Flac, not from Flac.

But yes, I did convert a .wav to Flac, and there' no tag information (normal since .wav has no tag to be preserved). There is an id tag, except it's empty.

I also converted an .mp3 that has some tag infromation to Flac and now the Flac file has the same tag information as the .mp3.

And I do have a Convert to for .flac files from Windows Explorer. Perhaps you've not installed the codec correctly? What version of dMC do yo have anyway?

I don't know if this is significant, but I have .flac associated with dAP. You see this in Windows Explorerer > Tools> Folder Options > File Types.

Re-run dMC Configuration to restore the Convert To.
