Error Message

Seasons Greetings,
After attempting two burns, I get this Error Message:
CODEC decompression error for '\\CdRom\Track02.cda'
Unable to read CD, scratched disk?
I tried to burn 8 tracks. I completed 1 (one) 2-8 issued the message.
Any ideas?

Actually this is probably a problem with how you have configure dMC Audio CD Input in respect to the cd rom drive.

Two things you can try:
1) Click the arrow to the right of Options > Standard CD Player Emulation and unselect Table of contents detection. If that doesn't work, put it back. This would be if some tracks are copy protected - this seems to be the issue here.

2) Click Options > CD Drive > make sure the correct drive is selected > Advanced > look at CD Communication and Command set and try different values. I use 2000/NT Device IO and MMC but you may find other settings work for you.

I'm slightly confused. Are you try to rip a CD or burn a CD?

If you are trying to burn a CD what software are you using?

I Downloaded them from "MusicMatch" and burned them with their software. When I tried to rip with DB I got that message.
Update!!!
I burned the tracks (.wma Extentions) with Napster, went through the same proceedure and it worked!
Never had a problem with MusicMatch but there lastest upgrade was a disastor, so I reinstalled the previous version.
I'm way past trying to figure these things out when an alternate solution comes up.

If, as you stated in your first post, you are getting that error message whilst trying to burn CDs, I wouldn't think so. But if you meant you were having a problem ripping CDs using dbPowerAmp, then, of course, it could well be. . Perhaps I misunderstood.

Well, my first understanding of this was that an audio cd containing 8 tracks was being ripped and one track worked while the others didn't.

Further in the thread it turns out that perhaps this was not an audio cd at all but rather a data cd of wma files that you burned with MusicMatch. In that case dMC Audio CD Input will not rip anything since it only works on proper audio cd's. But then all you have to do is us Windows Explorer and simple dMC and work with the actual wma files from the cd rom (as if it were a folder). If this is what you did, then maybe some of those wma files were copy-protected, in which case dMC cannot convert them to anything at all.

What you must have eneded up doing with Napster was manage to burn a proper audio cd from those .wma files. Thus the copy protection was removed from teh resulting audio cd tracks. Thereafter dMC Audio CD Input had an actual audio cd to rip and so it did.

Well, whether or not this is what happened, it sounds plausible to me :D
