Do you know if your wav file is compressed? What is the bitrate (8-bit, 16-bit, 24-bit) of your wav file? What is the frequency, normally 44100Hz or 2200Hz, of the file?

Well, This file is created from avi file. I demultiplexer the avi in a video without audio and the audio file , of course, in wav format. I used virtualdub.

When I analyse with gspot program the avi file, I can see the next:

      Bit rate 20 kb/s (20/ch x 1 ch)
      Frecuency 22050 Hz
      WMMEDIASUBTYPE_WMAudioV7-WMAudio Decoder DMO.

      And searching more information:
      Code:0x0161 Wave_format_ESPCM ESS Technology
Name:Wave format divx (same as WMA)

With the dbpoweramp the information of the audio file is:
format: ACM Codec Not Installed 'UnKnown 353'.
      original size: 64000Kb
      size:35000kb
      compresion: 17 to 1
      Frecuency 22050 Hz
      channel 1
      Bits 16

Aha! It's a compressed wav file. Now, why it can't be decoded, I don't know.

I will recommend you use the program Stoik Powerpak (a free video converter) from http://www.stoik.com/downloads/downloads_frm.htm. Using Stoik Videopak you can convert your .avi to .wmv (select the highest settings) and then using dMC you convert this .wmv to .wma and once again .wma to .wav or whatever you want.

Or else try to use the program you used to strip audio from your .avi and make sure you save it to an ordinary uncompressed PCM .wav file (16-bit, 44.1KHz, 2-channel stereo). Well, the stereo part only if you need it.

            Hi all,

I try to covert the .avi file to .mpg.

            Thx.

But...when I coverted the .avi, the audio file too. Now it's a .mp3 format.
I understand now. The audio file .wav was compress too. This was the reason what I did'nt covert the wav file to a mp3 file, becase was a double compression.

            Thx other time
